So, I've finally seen #PragueCastle properly! It really did take the best part of a day to look around the cathedral and the various Palaces that make up #Prague castle. Afterwards I thought I needed a reward and chanced upon the lovely Villa Richter Panorama Pergola where you can sit outside and try some of the local wine produced from the restored Saint Wenceslas Vineyard which is in actually located in the central part of the grounds, on the southern slope between the buttress wall of the Old Castle Stairs and the upper scenic ridgeway. It's supposed to be the oldest vineyard in Bohemia and originally, the "divine vineyard" was reputedly cultivated by the patron saint of the Czech nation, Prince Wenceslas. The renovated vineyard was opened to visitors to Prague Castle in the year marking the 1100th anniversary of Saint Wenceslas's birth. It's a great place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine in the sunshine - they serve the kind of food that is perfect for al-fresco dining too - I loved my local meat platter with salad and pickles. And, you look out over the vineyards to the Charles Bridge and the Old Town. The perfect place to escape the city and relax! #travelwriter #instatravel #travelgram#travelblog #instatbn #writetotravel #visitprague #postcardsfromtheworld #guardiantravelsnaps #ttot #tbin @czechtourism_UK #insta_prague #cezchrepublic #prague #theprettycities #alley #wonderful_prague #charlesbridge #VisitCZ #instaprague #ig_europe

This is the stunning set at the #londoncoliseum for the @englishnationalopera production of #LaTraviata Apart from Verdi's wonderful music played by an exceptional orchestra, there's a lively chorus (think men in basques, stockings and suspenders!) and a melodramatic story (of course the heroine falls in love - of course her lover leaves her and of course she dies tragically - it wouldn't be opera if that didn't happen!). And there's this wonderful set. I was lucky enough to go along the other night for a backstage tour - we got to stand on the stage and one of us tried our hand at conducting the invisible orchestra. Then we had a great dinner in the American Bar which would rival any theatre menu. And, we got to see the opera. For me it wasn't flawless. For whatever reason I thought Violetta looked like Meghan Markle - not in itself a bad thing - but not quite right in the context of the opera. But, it was tremendous fun - and a recommended night of entertainment. There are just two more showings this season - on Wednesday and Friday so do check for tickets right now if you'd like to see for yourself. Tickets start at £12.00 - and that's for a full cast and orchestra! There's a full review (and pictures of Violetta) on London Unattached - link in my profile. #enotraviata #enolatraviata #enolondoncoliseum #ENO #traviata #verdi #latraviatalondon #latraviatauk #LondonIgers #LookupLondon #LondonisOpen #SecretLondon #LoveLondon #TTOT

This is the stunning view of Lincoln Cathedral at Night from the rooftop terrace of the White Hart Hotel. Right in the centre of the City, the boutique hotel has large comfy rooms, some with this kind of view out over the nearby Cathedral. I spent a happy half hour trying to get a good shot without the scaffolding before I realised that at night it all merges seamlessly into the architecture of the Cathedral itself. I was in Lincoln to explore connections with the #Mayflower400 project that I am working on - in preparation for the 400 year anniversary of the #Mayflower sailing to America. And I was lucky enough to have time to spend exploring Lincoln itself and looking round the Cathedral. Building on the Cathedral started in 1088 and from 1311 to 1549 it was the tallest building in the world. But, the central spire collapsed in 1549 and was never rebuilt. It doesn't spoil the grandeur of Lincoln Cathedral though - sitting on the hilltop overlooking the city. In fact John Ruskin said: "I have always held... that the cathedral of Lincoln is out and out the most precious piece of architecture in the British Isles and roughly speaking worth any two other cathedrals we have." #CathedralLife @Lincoln #LoveLincoln #VisitLincoln @VisitLincoln #lincoln #Lincolnshire #lincolnuk #igerslincoln #igersuk #visitlincoln #visitengland #medieval #travelblogger #instatbn #writetotravel #ttot #tbin #travelblog #secretplaces @white_hart_hotel_lincoln #WhitehartLincoln
