Take a look into the fire-pit!!!! The pretty seaside fishing village of #Arbroath is famous for two things. Firstly for the #ArbroathSmokie - a PGI delicacy made from hot smoked Haddock fillets. Originating from Auchmithie, a small fishing village a few miles north of Arbroath, which was once populated with fishing people of Scandinavian origin. The fishwives originally smoked the fish in halved barrels with fires underneath, trapping the smoke under layers of hessian sacking. At the start of the 20th century, the first Auchmithie fisher-folk began moving to Arbroath, and the process soon became known as the Arbroath Smokie, as we know it today. The Arbroath Smokie has been officially recognised at the highest levels in Europe and has official protection through the Protected Geographical Indication, like Parma Ham, Parmesan and Champagne. Apparently, even when we leave the EU that protection will remain! Here you can see the haddock neatly tied in pairs of fillets and suspended over wooden beams, with the firepit below. They are then covered with hessian soaked in water and left to smoke. Delicious served just as they come the smoked fish has a sweet taste and flakes into beautiful morsels. Abroath is also home to Arbroath Abbey, founded in 1178 by William the Lion. It has a special place in Scottish history because of the Declaration of Arbroath of 1320, which asserted Scotland's independence from England. More of that to come later... #TayCountry @VisitAngus #VisitAngus #travelblogger #travelphotography #travel #TBIN #instagood #instatravel #instagramers #guardiantravelsnap #picoftheday #travellife #instatravelling #girlswhotravel #lifestyleblogger #sheisnotlost #travelinstyle #londonblogger #foodstagram #foodphotography #instafoodie #foodbloguk #foodblogger #instafoodblogger

Yes, this really is Scotland - not a touch of photoshop involved! This is the chapel on Moot Hill at #SconePalace - the crowning place for #Scottish Kings from at least the 9th century, where Alexander III was crowned in 1249 . It's believed that Moot Hill was at some point been surrounded by a ditch and palisade; it was there that kings professed their vows to the people of #Scotland. This is a 19th-century mausoleum built on the site of Scone church and just outside @SconePalace which dates back to 1803, when the abbey was rebuilt as a Gothic Palace (though traces of the original abbey do still remain, including a stunning wooden floor). It's a family home, lived in by the Earl of Mansfield - though you can visit some of the public rooms. I'll be sharing more about this historic place on the blog over the next few weeks. Lots of stories to share, including how the #StoneofDestiny found its way back to Scotland in 1950 - and how it may or may not have been returned in 1951. And, how John Major then DID give back whatever stone had been returned in 1996...although that stone is in #Edinburgh. All part of a fascinating trip through #TayCountry which has seen me drinking whisky, eating smokies and chocolate (not together!) and enjoying some amazingly sunny weather! #travelblogger #travelphotography #travel #instagood #instatravel #instagramers #guardiantravelsnap #pic oftheday #travellife #instatravelling #girlswhotravel #lifestyleblogger #sheisnotlost #travelinstyle #londonblogger @PerthCityCentre #PerthisthePlace #TBIN Labels EDIT

@LucyontheGo1 is still making us all jealous with her photos of Barbados. Wouldn't you just love to be sitting in one of these deck chairs right now? She tells us: I was staying at the Ocean Two Resort and Residencies, which is situated on the South coast of Barbados at the eastern end of Lawrence Gap in the parish of Christchurch, just 5 miles from Grantley Adams International airport. Ocean Two is a 4-star hotel with a lovely friendly independent feel to it. Ideally situated on the picturesque seafront, which is framed by palm trees and a white powdery sandy beach. It has an inviting swimming pool, which follows the curve of the hotel, plus a fully equipped gym and adult only roof terrace with plunge pool where you can enjoy incredible sunsets over Oistins Bay. The resort restaurant overlooks the beach and offers a swim-in bar plus a drinks service when for when you are lounging on the comfy beach chairs and enjoying the stunning view out to sea. #oceantwobarbados #LoveBarbados #VisitBarbados #seabreezeresort #ExploreBarbados #theyearofculinaryexperiences @londonunattached @visitbarbados 🇧🇧🇧🇧 #sun #seaside #sea #beach #beachlife #holiday #instaholiday #travelblogger #travelphotography #travel #instagood #instatravel #instagramers #guardiantravelsnap #pic oftheday #travellife #instatravelling #girlswhotravel #lifestyleblogger #sheisnotlost #travelinstyle #londonblogger #TBIN

Sometimes things just fall into place! Here's what @Lucyonthego1 has to say about her recent trip to #VisitBarbados... "I was staying 2 in a bedroom luxury Penthouse suite on the top floor with @oceantwobarbados. Imagine...... this is more like a large apartment with two private double bedrooms both with luxurious en-suite facilities, the walk-in power shower was the size of my entire bathroom and a double sink. The massive living area was equally impressive and easy to make yourself at home, it provided an amply sized kitchen area with an American style fridge with chilled water on tap (it’s quite safe to drink the tap water here), a coffee machine, breakfast bar, dining table and comfortable sitting area with TV, sofas and armchairs. It would be the perfect place to stay with friends or family, as you are able to have complete privacy in the bedroom suites but share the large communal living area. The view from the balcony of the ocean and the beach below is quite magnificent. Civilization in paradise! Want to know more?
