This is the "new bridge" of Ronda, built in 1800 spanning the Old Ronda to the New side. It's an impressive bridge that took 49 years to complete and replaced an earlier single arch bridge built in 1751. It is just one of the many impressive sights to see on a visit to Ronda, which is only an hour's drive through scenic hills from Malaga and Marbella. Ronda is a mountaintop city in Spain’s Malaga province set dramatically above the deep gorge you can see in this shot. his gorge (El Tajo) separates the city’s circa-15th-century (!) new town from the old town which dates back to Moorish rule. Ronda is famous too for the New Town’s Plaza de Toros, a legendary 18th-century bullring. And, Ronda was also the favourite town of writers Orsen Wells and Ernest Hemmingway, both of who are buried here.
